Pets as therapy to relieve stress for Students

May 8th, 2017

I first experienced the effects that pet therapy can have on individuals when working with the elderly around 15 years ago.

I witnessed how Interacting with a friendly pet can help many physical and mental issues. It can also help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health.

Brilliant idea of working with students to pass on that calming effect. Good luck to all those taking exams, cuddle a pet and relax it will be fine

Things to consider when buying a ball launcher

March 1st, 2017

Chuck It make a number of different dog fetch toys, from the classic hand launcher to the more sophisticated amphibious range which includes the bumper.  The ball launchers are simple – instead of tossing a ball with your hand, you grip the ball with the launcher, then fling it forward.  Chuck It offer a huge range of balls, all of which are compatible with their launchers.  Using the launchers the balls can travel up to 140 feet, which is a lot further than the other throwers on the market.  It’s a guaranteed way to wear out your dog in just minutes.

Before making a purchase consider the size of the ball, making sure it is suitable for your dog.  Too small they run the risk of choking and too big, they won’t be fetching that ball you just threw 140 feet.  Make sure you purchase a launcher that is compatible with the size of ball.

Cost, If you know your dog will run a fair way to fetch the ball then go for a pro launcher, they really do go that bit further but cost a little bit more too.  If you just want to give a launcher a try then opt for the Classic (25) this is sufficient for most.

If it’s comfort that you are after then go for the Ultra grip with the padded handle.  Chuck It are a great brand and may be a little bit more expensive than the budget ones on the market, they do last and they are great fun.  Opting for a cheaper version can sometimes reflect on the performance and durability.CHUCKIT TOUGH

Chuck It products are not only affordable, but durable too and have a reputation for producing quality products that stand the test of time.

Fireworks – Keeping your pets safe

November 4th, 2015

dog fireworks

With firework night nearly upon us, it’s time to start thinking about how your pet will cope with the loud bangs and flashes.

This time of year there is a rise in the number of pets needing medication during stressful times, and there is an increase in animals being taken to rehoming centres having run away from home.

Bonfire night can be a frightening time for all pets, but there are things you can do to keep them safe and calm during the bright and noisy evenings:

1. Always keep your pet indoors when fireworks are being let off.
2. It’s a good idea to walk your dog earlier in the day, before the fireworks start.
3. Keep your dog on a lead in case fireworks are let off unexpectedly.
4. Switching the TV or radio on might help to muffle the sound, but make sure it’s not too loud and don’t try this if your dog isn’t used to noises from the TV.
5. Make sure your dog is chipped and your information is up to date on their ID tag. If your dog is spooked by fireworks and runs off an ID tag displaying your phone number means you will have a better chance of being reunited quickly.
